It is quick two-step process. You give us the old domain and new domain. We give you a CNAME or A record to update your DNS with. Done.
After the DNS has propogated, your redirect will be active. Made a mistake? Just update your DNS record and it will go back to normal.
Why use this service?
We use 301 redirects to make sure that Google and other search engines know that your blog or product has moved to a new domain. If you do not use a 301 redirect then it's possible you will lose your organic search traffic.
DNS providers sometimes allow you to redirect at the domain level, but that does not correctly preserve the full URL, and again can cause you to lose traffic
